"Bookkeeper" is supposedly the only common English word (or at least "bookkeep" is supposedly the only root word... there's always "bookkeepers", "bookkeeping", etc.) that has three consecutive double letters. In the fourth episode of the US version of Queer as Folk, when asked by his teacher about "yearning", Justin says, "Yearning is when you want something really badly... like, so bad it hurts"; his teacher responds, "Exactly. It has to hurt to be worthy of the word." Show and tell is something that often happens in elementary schools, but not so much afterward. Trapped in Time is a DS9 YA book, written by Ted Pederson.
Next, this week's psiphi.org blog entries:
- Something trivial (Feb. 16, where I write about helping with a trivia contest)
- If I woke up with Alice (Feb. 16, which is a short story, an expansion of an extemporaneous reply to a meme)
- To do this weekend (revised) (Feb. 17, where I post some updated plans)
- My Upcoming Week, Feb. 21-27 (Feb. 20, where I look at the next seven days)
Pepsi can count: 36 Pepsi, 16 Pepsi Vanilla.
